After being a mentor in a residence hall at UC Berkeley and just before I became a resident assistant for the same hall, I was nominated to join the Golden Bear Chapter (the university’s branch) of the National Residence Hall Honorary. This was a pretty significant honor, as NRHH is one of the more well-known honor societies in resident life, and is also a significant service organization, hosting a number of events each year.
I accepted the nomination, and quickly moved into the Marketing and Finance Committee. From there I was provided with various logos and color palettes for the organization and the school by Justin Marschke, the head of the committee who became both a friend and mentor to me.
While I was there I worked on a variety of marketing and publicity works, including a series of thank you notes (attached to little goodie bags) to hall staff.
Below is an example of one of the designs (there was a design for each position honored with differing text), and then another in use.
I also collaborated with Justin on creating the designs for Facebook events, such as the one below for a variety show hosted by NRHH.
It was a pleasure working with Justin, who also honored me as Committee Member of the Semester my first semester I was a part of the organization. I learned a lot from him, and I was happy to serve NRHH during my last year in the residence halls.
